THE FAMOUS BETTIE PAGE MEMORIUM (April 22, 1923 – December 11, 2008)

Bettie Page was an American model who became famous in the 1950s for her fetish modeling and pin-up photos. Her look, including her jet black hair and trademark bangs, has influenced many artists.



She was also one of the earliest Playmates of the Month for Playboy magazine. "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told the Associated Press.



Her later life was marked by depression, violent mood swings and several years in a state mental institution. In the 1960s, she converted to Christianity and served as a Baptist missionary in Angola After years of obscurity, she experienced a resurgence of popularity in the 1980s and has a significant cult following.

This is for a complete card set of "BETTIE PAGE: QUEEN OF CURVES" COLLECTOR CARDS (21st Century Archives/1996).

This complete card set consists of 50 cards in all (#1 - #50). Each card features black and white shots of Bettie Page as photographed by famous photographer Bunny Yeager. These images are all on a traditional trading card size 2.5" X 3.5".  This card set was the first card set devoted to this Queen of Pin-Up by 21st Century Archives; and had quickly & completely sold out, sparking follow up series by the same company.

The cards show photos from several different photo series. There are different wardrobes, including an animal print bikini,  black bikini, lingerie with tassles, and tulle bikini with fishnet stockings. The photos are taken indoors in a studio as well as outdoors on a beach. Bettie looks stunning, showing off her love of the camera and her unique style of posing.

The style & format of these cards are just simply BEAUTIFUL! The images are timeless.

The backs of these cards are really something else. They offer some biographical information about Bettie, they provide quotes from her family members and retell stories and conversations between photographer Bunny Yeager and Bettie.  Page offers her explanations of why she became so popular, and why she "disappeared" from the business. Both interesting and informative, there's a wealth of information to be found on these card backs.....that is, if you can peel your eyes away from the photos on the fronts!
